Vision Statement
Feminine Energy, Artistic Integrity, Creative Change. Full and
melodious we bring a MoonSong.
Who are we?
- MoonSong is a collective of women artists from the DC
Metro area devoted to literary art and performance that
uplifts, educates and entertains. MoonSong was founded
May 2002 with the goal of performing For Colored Girls
and has recently expanded its goals.
- MoonSong is dedicated to exposing and exploring issues
relating to women such as abuse, sexuality, spirituality,
reproductive rights and empowerment.
MoonSong strives to:
- Bring high caliber literary art and theatre to DC Metro
area.
- Advocate for womens rights in the DC Metro area
and abroad.
- Foster and nurture young and aspiring artists.
- Perform outreach activities focused on the arts and community
service, including donating a portion of any proceeds
to an area community service organization.
Future MoonSong Endeavors:
- Fall 2002 - MoonSong goes on a mini promotional tour at
various DC venues.
- Fall 2002 - MoonSong hosts two writers workshops in the
DC Metro Area.
- February 2003 - MoonSong performs Ntozake Shanges
groundbreaking choreopoem For Colored Girls.
